Cincinnati family physician Pamela Hanson is coaching pastors in Honduras to lead in Christian community development using health and healing as a starting point.

In partnership with Dr. Rafael Maradiaga, a Honduran physician and pastor, she is coaching the pastors to become the leaders in church and community that God desires.

Dr. Hanson says, “We are using the model that Jesus used, of making disciples ‘as you are going.’ We share the lives of the Honduran pastors, teaching and coaching them through the events of daily life, so that they can bless their churches and communities, and reproduce themselves by leading their own small groups.”

We have 37 pastors meeting weekly in four separate groups .

They receive Biblical and theological training through a DVD series from the International School of Ministry.

As they grow as leaders, they will start their own discipleship groups of pastors and church leaders, thereby multiplying themselves exponentially.
Our model for community development is Community Health Evangelism, developed by Medical Ambassadors International.

The goal of Community Health Evangelism (CHE) is to establish a development ministry whose purpose is to bring together Jesus’ Great Commission found in Matthew 28:19-20, and his Great Commandment to heal the sick found in Matthew 25:36.

This plan is accomplished through the training of community members as Community Health Evangelists (CHEs). The CHEs will, in turn, minister to their fellow villagers by teaching disease prevention and health promotion.
